Zhuhai, situated in the southwest of the Pearl River
Delta of Guangdong Province, is one of the five original
special economic zones in China. It covers the land
of about 1,700 square kilometers and has the total
population of more than 1,480,000 people according
to the statistic in 2008, which make it the city with
the least population of Guangdong.
It is subtropical monsoon climate in Zhuhai, so it
can enjoy adequate sunshine and rainfall. The annual
average temperature is 22.3℃ and the lowest temperature
is about 2.5℃. The annual average rainfall is between
1,700 mm and 2,300 mm. With the ideal living conditions
of attractive and clean environment and natural landscapes,
it was award ''the Best Model of International Residential
Environment Improvement'' by United Nations.
Besides, there are many attractive and famous scenic
spots, to which you can have a trip, for example,
the major tourist attractions of New Yuanmingyuan
Palace, which is designed as a copy of the Old Summer
Palace in Beijing, the Statue of Fisher Girl, One
of Zhuhai's famous landmarks, and the Meixi Royal
Stone Archways, and so on.
Mei
Xi Archway
The Meixi Royal Stone Archways is located at Mei Xi
Village in Qianshan town of Zhuhai City. It covers
126,000 square meters and was built in 1886 and in
1891 by Guangxu Emperor in order to remember Chen
Fang and his families. The Meixi Stone Archway consists
of three parts: Meixi Paifang (royal stone archways),
the former residence of Chen Fang, and the Chen's
Garden and Cemetery. Among others, its architecture
style is the most remarkable. It combines the architectural
art of the west and east, and also it has many wonderful
engravings. These are rare and fine works of Archway
architecture. It was highly regarded by Zhuhai government
and was pointed as the 'Special protection item of
old architecture' by Guangdong provincial government
in 1989.
Statue
of Fisher Girl
Statue of Fisher Girl is a symbol of Zhuhai. She gracefully
stands at the beautiful Xianglu Bay, raising a bright
pearl with both hands in an elegant posture. And it
was made of granite and stands 8.7 meters high, weighing
10 tons.
It's famous for the moving legend of the fisher girl.
Long long ago, there was a fairy maiden, she was attracted
by the beautiful scenery of Xianglu bay, and she decided
to descend to the earth so that she could enjoy the
entire wonderful scenery. She disguised herself as
a fisher girl. And she fell in love with a young fisherman.
But one day, the fisherman believed some rumors and
demanded the fisher girl to give him her bracelet
as token of attachment. She explained the origin of
the bracelet tearfully. Before she descended to the
earth, she was the South Sea Dragon King's daughter,
her father arranged eight mistresses to avoid her
escape, and every mistress gave her a bracelet, she
would die if she even removed one. However, the fisherman
thought it was a lie and turned to leave. The fisher
girl removed her bracelet fiercely in order to prove
her love for the fisherman, but died in his arms.
The fisherman was compunctious so much and went nearly
mad in grief.
Yuan
Ming Xin Yuan
New Yuan Ming Palace is located in Zhuhai Jiuzhou
Avenue, Stone Forest Hill to the northwest of Zhuhai
City and it covers an area of 1.4 square kilometers.
It is one of China's first AAAA-level scenic spots.
It was opened to the public in 1997. The park is split
into three main areas: the Classical Southern Chinese
Gardens, the Western Building and the Imperial Gardens
from Ming and Qing Dynasties.
It is clear in its strong culture, fine elegant, chic
Pavilion, special buildings, and the magnificent large-scale
dance performances attracted numerous domestic and
foreign tourists.
New Yuan clearly melts the classical allusion imperial
family architectural complex, Jiang Nan historic gardens
architectural complex and Western world architectural
complex. The garden inner is to have the honorable
qualities Western world architectural complex alone
in the western part, the white marble wall body, the
delicate hall inner is decorated. It is worth touring.
